Banquet inside an unknown hall, possibly the original St. Peter's hall on North Broadway adjacent to St. Peter's Church. St. Peter's hall was the forerunner of the Casa Italiana. Various generations of a family are gathered around a table laden with food. Some are identified with green writing over their figures. Bouquets of flowers are in the foreground. The individuals identified in green are listed below. The maiden names of the women are enclosed in brackets, for example: [Bruno] Back Row Standing (L to Right): The two to the left are Tony Bruno (1884-1964). He was a brother to John Bruno. Tony was also born in Canneto, and was known as Vito Giuseppe while there. His wife is standing next to him. She is Mary [Carmela] Bruno (1892-1968) and she is from Potenza in Basilicata, Italy. The next two are John Bruno, and his wife Mary (Macchia) Bruno (1895-1963). She is from Montrone di Bari, Italy and was known as Vita Maria Macchia while there. John Bruno was known as Giacomo in Italy before moving to America. Back Row Sitting (L to R): Frances [Bruno] Campagna and her husband James Campagna (who was known as Vincenzo in Italy). The girl at the end of the table is Carmela [Bruno] Fiore (1916-2001), Frances's sister. Front Row (closest to the camera) Sitting (L to R): The young boy on the left is Leonard Bruno. He is not the same Leonard Bruno from 555-596-11; there were three of them, all first cousins. The woman directly to his right is unknown, but listed as Millie. She appears in several family photos, but it is unclear if that was a nickname. Family records from the donor list her as Sadie [Tarantino] Macchia, Joseph Macchia's wife, but there is a possibility this is incorrect. The woman in the middle is Frances Gargano [Bruno] (1909-1979). She was the aforementioned Tony Bruno's daughter. The man two spaces to her right is Joseph Gargano (1903-2002), her husband. The two men at the end are: another cousin Leonard Victor Bruno (1911-1979), and Joseph Macchia (Frances Campagna's brother). |
