Description |
Black and white photograph taken in the summer of 1907 in conjunction with a trip Ambrogio Vignolo, Isabel Vignolo (left) and Carolina Bornatico (who became the wife of Alberto Vignolo in 1909, on the right) took via steamship to Honolulu. Because Ambrogio died on August 14, 1907, this photograph is most likely that last picture taken of him. Ambrogio Vignolo helped establish the wine industry in Southern California through his ownership of the Italian Vineyard Company. Previously, he had sold provisions to California miners with the help of Domenico Ghiradelli (the founder of the Ghiradelli Chocolate Company) and owned a successful grocery store in Los Angeles. |
