Image of Rose Ricci wearing the dress that her mother, Teresa Pescitani, wore to Rose's wedding in 1936. The dress is a light pink or peach lace. Rose modeled this dress at the Garabaldina Club around 1976. She is laso wearing white gloves, a large brown belt, white heels, gold earrings, and carrying a silver clutch purse. Written in sharpie on the back of the photograph is the text: Rose Ricci- Wedding 1936 Her mother wore this dress" Also written in red pen is the text: "Rose Ricci yesteryear fashions 40 year old dress I modeled at Garibaldina Club. Dress my mother wore at my wedding." Rose, age 18, married Henry Ricci, age 23, at Sacred Heart Church in Los Angeles on December 20, 1936. His family was from Tuscany, but he was born in Pasadena and worked as a window-washer. Rose's maiden name was Pescitani. Her father was Leonardo (born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy) and her mother was Teresa (born in Agne, Italy). After immigrating to the United States, the family lived in Burbank and became citizens before World War II. Teresa worked at Libby's Cannery until at least 1936. Rose went to Burbank High School and was a longtime member of the Garibaldina Club, Italian Women's Club, and St. Peter's Italian Church. |
