Description |
Family members in a Ford automobile in Southern California, somewhere between Lincoln Heights and Little Italy. The man standing outside of the car is James Campagna (1904-1996). He immigrated to America in 1922 and was known as Vincenzo there. His wife, Frances Campagna (1913-1996) (maiden name: Bruno), is seated in the driver's seat. They were married in 1929 in Los Angeles and divorced somewhere around 1949. She was born in Chicago, but James (Vincenzo) Campagna was born in (as he listed it) in Montrone, Bari in Puglia, Italy. The man sitting on the dashboard is Frances's uncle Joseph Macchia (1901-1983). The boy in the back of the car is Joseph Campagna, who is James and Frances's son (1930-2015). The girl in the background is unknown, but is likely one of the family's Italian cousins. |
