Description |
Linen pillow case with monogram and flower embroidery (set of 2). It was given as a wedding present to Rose and Henry Ricci by Henry's parents. The pillow case was made in Italy, as indicated by the gift description in Rose's "Bride Book," which is also in this collection. Rose, age 18, married Henry Ricci, age 23, at Sacred Heart Church in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles on December 20, 1936. His family was from Tuscany, but he was born in Pasadena and worked as a window-washer. Rose's maiden name was Pescitani. Her father was Leonardo (born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy) and her mother was Teresa (born in Agne, Italy). After immigrating to the United States, the family lived in Burbank and became citizens before World War II. Teresa worked at Libby's Cannery until at least 1936. Rose went to Burbank High School and was a longtime member of the Garibaldina Club, Italian Women's Club, and St. Peter's Italian Church. |
