Description |
Linen handkerchief with lace border that belonged to Rose Ricci. It was made in Italy and given to Rose as a wedding present from her inlaws, as indicated by Rose's "Bride Brook" also included in this collection. Rose, age 18, married Henry Ricci, age 23, at Sacred Heart Church in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles on December 20, 1936. His family was from Tuscany, but he was born in Pasadena and worked as a window-washer. Rose's maiden name was Pescitani. Her father was Leonardo (born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy) and her mother was Teresa (born in Agne, Italy). After immigrating to the United States, the family lived in Burbank and became citizens before World War II. Teresa worked at Libby's Cannery until at least 1936. Rose went to Burbank High School and was a longtime member of the Garibaldina Club, Italian Women's Club, and St. Peter's Italian Church. |
