15-inch knife, handmade by a blacksmith for Christian Scottini; used in grocery stores-1638 North Main Street (1906-1914) and 6524 South San Pedro Street (1914-1930)- to cut cheese and meats, etc. The metal blade was forged from salvaged discarded wagon wheel rims. Note that the nails were used to attach the wood handles to the blade. Contains a rectangular 5.5-inch wood handle, attached to the metal through five nails. The blade tip is very pointed and the metal very stained and rusted on the edges. |
