Description |
Decorative oak wine barrel, quarter sized, that was displayed at Little Joe's. The front has a relief of Faunus (companion to Dionysus) and grades. It reads "Dalla Cantina di Campanelli" (From the Cellar of Campanelli). It is unclear where it originated or where Campanelli Cantina might have been located. Originally named Nuccio's Italian American Grocery, this restaurant was located on 5th and Hewitt Street before moving to 904 North Broadway in the 1920s. Its name was changed to Little Joe's during WWII in order to remove "Italian" from the name and escape wartime stigmas. Little Joe's closed in 1998 and was eventually rebuilt into the Blossom Plaza apartment complex. |
