"The Bride's Book" filled out by Rose Ricci. This 16-page booklet is a memory book for weddings and was issued by Golden Rule Furniture in Burbank. The booklet is bound with rope and features vintage wedding illustrations on the cover and throughout the text. Page headings include: Entertainments and Showers My Trousseau Gifts Guest's Autographs The Guests Attendents Mariage Records Our Honeymoon Our Home Our First Dinner Our First Callers Anniversaries Rose added the heading "Engagement August 29, 1936" to one of the pages dedicated to gifts. Here she pasted the newspaper clipping that announced her engagement. She also added the heading "Wedding Dec. 26, 1936" to the pages dedicated to guests. Here pasted three newspaper clippings. One in English describing the wedding, one in Italian describing the wedding, and another in English announcing their intentions of marrying. Other pages were filled in as the original heading indicated. Rose, age 18, married Henry Ricci, age 23, at Sacred Heart Church in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles on December 20, 1936. His family was from Tuscany, but he was born in Pasadena and worked as a window-washer. Rose's maiden name was Pescitani. Her father was Leonardo (born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy) and her mother was Teresa (born in Agne, Italy). After immigrating to the United States, the family lived in Burbank and became citizens before World War II. Teresa worked at Libby's Cannery until at least 1936. Rose went to Burbank High School and was a longtime member of the Garibaldina Club, Italian Women's Club, and St. Peter's Italian Church. |
