Description |
Bank of Italy home savings bank safe used by Christian and Cecilia Scottini in the 1910-1920's period. They banked at the 7th and Olive Branch where they also had a safe deposit box. Length: 3" Width: 1.5" Height: 4" A small metal safe box covered in dark brown leather. The words "Bank of Italy, Los Angeles Branch" are inscribed in gold letters on the front side of the box. The top side contains the slot framed in silver metal, as well as a small handle made of suede. On the bottom side the number "2056' is stamped in gold. To the left of the number is a small circular keyhole, as well as a circular hole to the right, possibly for inserting bills. The box is scuffed in many areas, especially on the edges and where the metal rings for the handles are attached to the box. The suede on the handle is severely frayed. |
