Description |
Wedding veil worn by Rose Ricci. The headpiece features plastic yellow and white floral designs with a green accent. The veil starts out thin for around 5 feet with a tool middle and lace edges. It then tapers out at the bottom and becomes around five feet wide. Rose described the veil in her wedding memory booklet, also in this collection. On page 3 she wrote, "Long bridal veil of tulle trimmed in rose point lace, was held by a halo cap of the rare lace." The veil was also described in the same way by a newspaper clipping pasted into page 8 of the booklet. Rose, age 18, married Henry Ricci, age 23, at Sacred Heart Church in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles on December 20, 1936. His family was from Tuscany, but he was born in Pasadena and worked as a window-washer. Rose's maiden name was Pescitani. Her father was Leonardo (born in San Pietro Avellana, Italy) and her mother was Teresa (born in Agne, Italy). After immigrating to the United States, the family lived in Burbank and became citizens before World War II. Teresa worked at Libby's Cannery until at least 1936. Rose went to Burbank High School and was a longtime member of the Garibaldina Club, Italian Women's Club, and St. Peter's Italian Church. |
